Clery Center Launches Online Clery Act Training Seminar

Clery Center Launches Collaborative Pilot Program

Clery Center Receives FEMA Grant
The Clery Center is pleased to announce it has received a $231,870 grant award from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Working with partners like the Michael H. Minger Foundation, Campus Firewatch, Rowan University, University of Pennsylvania, and the Philadelphia Fire Department, the Center will create an educational fire safety video and outreach campaign that is relevant and easy to view and share to better educate and engage college students nationwide on this important topic.“Campus-related fires are a concern for all colleges and universities and our organization always strives to provide education in a meaningful way,”... On the passing of Senator Lautenberg
Throughout his political career, Senator Frank R. Lautenberg was an advocate for victims’ rights and campus safety. Senator Lautenberg was passionate about fire safety; he and New Jersey Representative Bill Pascrell introduced the Campus Fire Safety Right-to-Know Act (RTK), which aimed to address concerns related to fires in college and university residence halls and off-campus student housing. The core provisions from the Campus Fire Safety Right-to-Know Act were included within the Higher Education Opportunity Act, signed into law by President George W. Bush in 2008. U.S. Department of Education Offers Preliminary Guidance on Campus SaVE
On May 29, 2013, the Department of Education, in an electronic announcement, provided some preliminary guidance regarding the implementation of the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act (Campus SaVE), included within the Violence Against Women Act reauthorization. In the announcement, they provide an expected timeline for the changes ("the first Annual Security Report that must include the new required information is the report that must be issued by each institution by October 1, 2014") and call on institutions to "make a good faith effort to comply with the statutory requirements in accordance with the statutory effective date."You can...
