Jeanne Clery Act Training Seminars

The Clery Center's Jeanne Clery Act Training Seminars (CATS) curriculum was designed by a multidisciplinary team of experts and practitioners in the fields of campus law enforcement and student affairs. The curriculum was fully revised in 2015 to address participant suggestions, compliance challenges, and new concepts such as:

  • Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) amendments to the Clery Act

  • Interactive features

  • Audience participation via new clicker technology

  • Case study examples + group activities

  • In-depth explanation of the intersections between the Clery Act + Title IX

Each two day seminar includes presentations on:

The 4 Ws of Crime Statistics
Ongoing Disclosures
Putting It All Together: The Annual Security Report

Each interactive session is taught by a practitioner in his or her field. The Clery Center encourages institutions to send collaborative teams to learn how different offices on campus can come together to better comply with the Act and truly embrace the spirit of the law.

Our sessions include information for those working in:

  • campus public safety
  • administration
  • counseling
  • student conduct/judicial affairs
  • risk management
  • legal counsel

Intersections of the Clery Act & Title IX: 1-Day Training

Since the release of the Dear Colleague Letter in April 2011, college and university campuses nationwide have taken bold steps to educate and respond to sexual violence on their campuses. Proactively moving forward with new policies and procedures to address sexual assault, campuses are still faced with complex questions regarding how to effectively implement their new policies and stay aware of new laws and best practices.

The Clery Center for Security On Campus and the Victim Rights Law Center have joined together to keep campus administrators, faculty, first responders, and university counsel at the forefront of the VAWA amendments to Clery, new legislation enacted in 2013, as well as best Title IX practices campuses nationwide are using to stay ahead of liability and provide a safe community. You will learn from litigators, victim advocates, and compliance experts on how to maintain a balanced approach to adjudicating sexual assault and rape cases.
